This is a slightly smaller species compared to other Emperor Tetras, only growing to about 4cm. It is best kept in aquaria that either receives some side light or that is not too brightly lit from above, otherwise the Blue Emperor’s colours may appear pale and washed out. In the right lighting, males are a luminous blue to mauve. It is a very good community fish, active and peaceful.
